Yes, they welcomed it with open arms! So after much waiting, it was finally Yorkshire & Humberside’s turn to host their Regional Final at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds. Many people came out to see the result of many months of hard work between the schools, young people organisations, Apples and Snakes, the consultant slam producers, the poet coaches and the shadow artists. These young people were ready and willing to get their words out and to get them heard.
They commanded the stage with their confidence, honesty, raw talent and poetry. They were shown so much love and support by the crowd and the atmosphere was buzzing with energy and anticipation, the audience were not disappointed at all!
The five participating slam teams consisted of…
– Carr Manor High School
– City of Leeds High School
– Ralph Thorseby High School
– The Grammar School Leeds
– West Yorkshire’s Playhouse’s First Floor
While all the teams performed amazingly and with such energy, the highest scoring team award was given to the Ralph Thoresby School who will go on to represent the Yorkshire & Humberside region at the National Shake the Dust Final in London.
