North-Easteners came out to support their region’s finest young poetic talent in this Regional Final at the ARCStockton, with their teachers, support workers, poet coaches and shadow artists gathering for what was to be one of the best days of their lives. Everyone was willing them to do well and show how the North-East gets down in terms of Shaking the Dust!

The five teams taking part were:

A Way Out, Stockton

Egglescliffe School, Teesside

Greenfield Community College, Newton Aycliffe

Our Lady and St Bede’s R C School, Stockton

St John’s School & Sixth Form College in Bishop Auckland

The atmosphere in the room at the regional final was electric. All ten performances by the slam teams were exceptional. Simma hosted the event, whilst Kate Fox, Poet Coach and Sacraficial Lamb got the audience ready and the judges with her smile and her words. There were also special guest performances from Joe Hakim and Maxwell Golden.

The team going to London to represent the North East region at the National Shake the Dust Final is Our Lady and St Bede’s R C School, Stockton. Wish them luck!

Well done to everyone involved in this whole process in the North East, they really represented their region and showed a bright future in terms of their whole new generation of young poets! They showed that they were the future! *sings “We Are The World, We Are The Future”*
